Amalie Brunn seems like she panders to the cattle that wear earplugs to shows and listen to Evenessence..& prefer Leprous over Leprosy.

. In the Guitar World feature on Amalie Brunn's Myrkur project she cries about all the death threats, hate videos etc she received after the release of her first album. She laughably talks about how she was so scared she had to carry a knife in her boot and carry mace on-stage.

Amalie Brunn recorded with members of Ulver and Mayhem. I'm curious what members of Mayhem? How many original members are even left in Mayhem? The guitarist/writer for Mayhem's Esoteric Warfare also does the Nidingr project which released some good Black Metal before the other guitarist in Nidingr got locked up for a stabbing. The only thing Ulver ever did of any relevancy & worth to me was the session work Garm did on Total Death. (The Darkthrone full length not the Kreator song) .

Early on Ulver may have had some value as a Norweigan Black Metal band but their new school criticisms of christianity started to become criticisms of Black Metal itself and they started telling established Kvlt acts they were doing it wrong. Then Ulver started singing in english and putting out hipster indie shoegaze noodling college radio faux experimental shit that helped paved the way for Alcest. Ulver became trendy to half stepping cowardly posers because the more serene sedated nature of their work pandered to the tourist neophytes that felt ostracized and in most cases frightened of the extreme over the top uncompromising nature of Helnorsk Svartmetall . 

So Ulver became essentially the decaf flavor of the month for lazy posers that didn't want to fully commit themselves to the wretched left hand path that leads us all to hell. Those type of sheep don't fucking belong within Black Metal . They know they don't fucking belong and instead of getting the fuck out and going back to the juggallo gatherings, Ozzfests and crust punk squats they crawled out of... they start trying to challenge the values and traditions of the Kvlt and reinvent Black Metal into a more accessible commercial format that's easier for them to swallow.They can't fucking accept it for what it is, so they want to dumb it down to their level of perception.

Watch the film Silence. These exoteric centroclines invade Black Metal like christer missionaries invaded Japan and when the xian missionaries started getting decapitated and tortured to death, they were surprised and started calling the Japanese sick, bestial, evil, wicked people. Falling back on Xenophobic ignorance instead of recognizing that they were targeted because they invaded a culture and tried to destroy that culture and replace it with their own ignorance. Imposing their will on that culture.

Amalie Brunn needs to quit bitching like a xian missionary about all the hostility and death threats she's received. She has it coming . Brunn brings this shit up to criticize the Kvlt, and make herself into a martyr to gain some infamy and get more posers to buy her shit. Her victim stance xian martyr attitude towards the threats and hatred she's received is a false attitude that makes me lose respect for her. The descriptions of the music make it sound like some diseased mash-up of Dimmu Cradle Of Poser FIlth/Opeth unplugged/Dead Can Dance/Einar Solberg cascadian shit .There's a lot of experimental that transgressively carries metal forward into interesting extreme directions while remaining trve to the kvlt. 

So calling someone close-minded because they don't accept false shit is just ignorant. There's a lot of acts that i've promoted that have carried the flag of hate forward in transgressive experimental directions while remaining trve. Like Mitochondrion, Lantern, Obliteration, Execration, Disembowelment, Portal, and Krieg. In The Nightside Eclipse, Slaughter of Innocence, and Storm of the Lights Bane are all kvlt albums and they all contain acoustic guitars,keyboards or symphonic orchestral elements. 

.Bon Scott said keep going forward not off on a tangent....Brunn needs to stop bitching about death threats and stand independently on her own. Without the need of martyrdom . Like what other female fronted acts like Anti-Childleague, Derketa, Vastum,Yellow Machinegun, Landmine Marathon and Transient accomplished by focusing on music not childish scene politic debates.

Lovecraft distilled the gothic elements from gothic romance and discarded the rest of it. Just like he took all the bleakest and most horrifying elements of supernatural literature and isolated those core images and filtered it through his misanthropic anti natalist nihilism known as cosmicism.

Lovecraft's work had almost no characterization. Let alone anything remotely human for readers to relate to. It transgressed all that and spitefully refused to pander to simple minded readers who needed a linear narrative and character development to sugarcoat the horror of his work. In his refusal to pander to accepted standards of what proper writing is supposed 

to be his work was all the more powerful and disturbing as a result.

Lovecraft's imagery was also at times vague and subjective. Prompting the readers to fill in the blanks with images from their own psyche. As a result, Lovecraft was able to coerce readers through understated details to imagine personalized visions of hellish nightmares from their own minds and this as a result made Lovecraft's work more powerful then overly descriptive formulaic writers who gave readers clean precise descriptions. 

Like Lovecraft removed the romance from Gothic Romance, a lot of extreme metal took all the pop and rock elements out of thrash and heavy metal and even stripped out most of the blues influences. Leaving by a cold monstrous sound of pure evil. This was taken to an even further extreme by power electronics and noise artists carrying on what true industrial stood for before it became associated with raver trash dance music and false mall metal with keyboards. In what is in effect the auditory equivalent of Lovecraft's prose.

As a result weak minded sheeple can't handle it. They try to disarm their revulsion and claim to appreciate some metal, but they cant handle true metal, metal refined and distilled down to its brutal core of pure evil. Remorselessly and unrelentingly dissociated from anything remotely relatable to the common mass of mankind. Something the common cattle can't even decipher.

They will claim that its too loud, too distorted, the lyrics are just screaming, or cry about the unintelligible lyrics that they simply can't understand.

Its interesting cattle accustomed to pop music will typically say similar things about jazz. You play jazz for a lot of sheep they will complain about the lack of vocals and the timings they cant follow. But these aren't valid criticisms .
Its like an illiterate crackhead giving a book a bad review because the words were too advanced for his reading level.
Or a child criticizing a gourmet dinner because there's no sugar in it and he just wants to eat candy... Or a toothless senile old man complaining about food being too hard to chew.

Their suggestions to make the music they disapprove of more acceptable to their palette are all centered around debasing down to the level they can understand. Making things safe for everyone. Weakening it and sugarcoating it for civilians. This is the tyranny of the masses in action and the type of forced equality that destroys individualism like what Vonnegut was satirizing in Welcome To The Monkeyhouse.

They'rer also completely blind and ignorant of the passion and the energy behind the music. John Shirley wrote a great description of live Punk Rock in his cult cyberpunk science fiction classic 'City Come-A-walking'. He said the fact that the lyrics were indecipherable and unintelligible didn't matter because the sheer passion and energy behind the performance overcompensated for all of that.

But they don't get that. They're actually,  in a lot of cases, frightened of music with actual emotion and feeling behind it. Buying releases from shock acts whose extreme lyrics are actually just a misunderstood metaphor for something acceptable and politically correct. Prefering dead clean sterile remastered studio versions of radio hits over live bootleg deep cuts where the band is actually taking their mask off. 

You listen to the live Joy Division material, is raw,violent, and distorted. Ian Curtis' voice cracks and becomes frantic. The fluctuations in volume heighten the delivery. It's the sound of Curtis bearing his soul to the crowd and letting his emotions bleed through the microphone. In the last years of his life before he committed suicide. The Martin Hannet production material is cold and definitive but it also tones down and censors a lot of what Curtis was trying to convey.

On albums Black Sabbath's heaviness dosn't reach the level of modern acts like Electric Wizard. Sabbath's Live at Asbury Park New Jersey bootleg from the seventies is as essential as Paranoid. It's Sabbath live in the flesh with all the proto metal doom conveyed in a more heavy context due to the mafia produced board mix that isn't cleaned up and post processed by major label hired gun studio exec engineers for proper radio airplay.

It is scary, intense, ugly, honest, original, problematic, profoundly challenging stuff. It's also highly intelligent, refined and kind of a masterful example of writing at its most rendered and self investigating. I was recently accused of being close-minded and elitist. Allegedly my views don't allow for any dissension and this puts me on the level of an ignorant fascist. This came from an individual who, when asked about punk, brings up the eighties and name drops brand name acts that have little relevancy to the underground such as The Clash and Violent Femmes. Then prattle on about only caring about music and not giving a shit about the politics and the subculture. Which of course means they're simply a consumer who sees music as a consumer product to be purchased and consumed as a disposable form of entertainment. Not a lifestyle, not an identity, . Not a weapon of Aesthetic Terrorism to fight against this world of shit and take back what they took away. No, to them, it's just entertainment and a product. 

They have no comprehension whatsoever of what lies beneath the pedestrian abyss of radio friendly pop music so when someone willfully chooses to sequester themselves from pop culture and sever their mass media feeder tube, consumer sheep will look at you like your a fucking freak and close-minded, because they don't know what your mind's open to. They don't know what exists beyond the simpleminded civilian shit played on television and radio. They're content with happy packaged sounds sold to their market demographic. 

A sad fact is a lot of people who make ignorant claims of being open minded and liking everything, are just conformist yes men, afraid to step out of the herd and form a strong opinion about anything.. They're pop culture rape victims. Fucked so hard by pop culture they're too beaten and ashamed to take a stand on anything . They're safe within their tiny fucking box and they don't color outside the lines, and they think this is being open minded.

They don't know a fucking thing about underground music yet they boast about their open minded appreciation of all different styles of music. In reality they just like all the different flavors of bubblegum sold to them. It's as ignorant as saying you're a worldly eater and appreciate all different kinds of foods simply because you eat at all the different chain vendors in the food court at the mall ..... But never actually go to a restaurant or cook your own meals, let alone invent your own recipes...

These centrclines aren't fucking open minded let alone appreciative of different kinds of music. No they're just sheep chained to a mass media feeder tube trying to put a dignified spin on their base ignorance.

Bubblegum is a sugary chemical substance mass produced in a factory. Giving you a short burst of sweetness before turning into a lifeless mass of rubber you can't swallow it because it's indigestible and contains no nutrients. So you have to spit it into the gutter. Where it becomes litter...

So as such BubbleGum pop is an apt term for the shit they identify with.

As the bovine herd conformists and peer pressure zombies that they are.

Like Ian Brady said Individuality should be the highest value not servile social assimilation...
